How we find the cheapest firewood prices
We're an independent price aggregator. We don't sell firewood, we don't favour any supplier, and the lowest price we show is the lowest price we can find that day.
What we track
Every day, we check a comprehensive list of UK firewood suppliers that deliver kiln-dried hardwood logs nationally. For each supplier we record the current price and stock level across the various crate sizes they offer. We're continuously adding new suppliers to make sure our coverage is as complete as possible. How we standardise prices
Firewood is sold in wildly inconsistent units (bulk bags, barrow bags, jumbo crates, nets, boxes) and the volumes vary by supplier even when the names don't. To compare like for like, we convert every product to a price per cubic metre of loose stacked volume.
For example, a crate of kiln-dried birch with a loose volume of 1.6m³ priced at £400 works out at £400 ÷ 1.6 = £250/m³.
Why volume, not weight
All the suppliers we track are Ready to Burn certified, meaning their wood is below 20% moisture content. Within that standard there's still some range. Some suppliers dry to single figures, others sit closer to the 20% upper limit. Drier wood burns more efficiently, but the volume of wood you receive is the same either way, so volume is the cleanest comparison metric.
In future we'd like to factor verified moisture data into our comparisons too, so buyers can see not just the cheapest wood, but the best value heat.
Cheapest firewood today
Our daily table shows the lowest-priced supplier that's currently in stock. Prices and stock can change between our daily checks, and we're working towards multiple checks per day to keep this as accurate as possible.
What we don't (yet) cover
We currently focus on kiln-dried hardwood from suppliers delivering UK-wide. We don't yet track local-only suppliers, softwood, seasoned (non-kiln-dried) wood, or briquettes. These may come in future updates.
Affiliate disclosure
We earn affiliate commissions from some suppliers when you click through and buy. This never affects the prices we display or the rankings we show. The cheapest supplier is the cheapest supplier, regardless of whether we earn from the click.
Using our data to buy smart
We monitor seasonal trends and flag sudden price drops. If you've subscribed to email alerts, we'll let you know when seasonal prices start to rise, when good deals appear, or send you an annual reminder with the lowest prices.
