About Compare the Firewood

We started out as stove owners about twelve years ago. The stove was installed in summer, and we had a big batch of unseasoned, un-split logs delivered ready to fill our woodshed.

After a couple of years of hauling, splitting, stacking, and waiting for logs to dry, we decided kiln-dried wood would be more than worth the premium. Not only would it be less effort, but we'd be burning properly dry logs and creating less pollution.

Burning wood in a stove offers a warmth and cosy atmosphere unmatched by any gas or electric appliance. The sound, smell and sight of a wood fire almost resonates at a primitive level.

We also noticed that not all stove owners were burning responsibly. Often you'd walk past a house in winter and smell wet wood or unpleasant smoke from questionable fuels.

Over the years we searched for the cheapest kiln-dried suppliers online. Eventually it occurred to us that others might find the same comparison useful. By publishing the cheapest prices we can find alongside guides on responsible burning, we hope to help people burn well.
